Madiwala is a bustling locality in Bangalore adjacent to the up market Koramangala. Madiwala is along Hosur road and is the beginning of the IT corridor that extends all the way to “Electronic City”. Madiwala is the first point of entry into business districts of Bangalore for travelers coming from further south aided by an informal bus terminus for private interstate bus services that operates out of the main road. Adjacent to the Madiwala Traffic Police station is the Madiwala Vegetable Market that stretches the length of the road connecting Bellandur and Hosur roads
The renowned missionary hospital St. John's Medical College & Hospital is at Madiwala.
Madiwala Lake is one of the biggest lakes in Bangalore, spread over an area of 114.3 hectares .It is a home to many migratory birds. The Madiwala Lake sees a huge number of Spot-billed Pelican migration in the winter (November-December). The Madiwala Lake comes under the administration of Karnataka State Forest Department which carries out routine maintenance of this lake.
Koramangala: is an upscale area of Bangalore situated in the south-east of the city and even today is a highly sought after residential locality. Koramangala is at the focal point of many busy main roads, notably the Intermediate Ring Road (linking the Airport Road with Hosur Road and Electronics City), Sarjapur Road (leading to the Outer Ring Road, the IT Corridor and beyond) and 80 Feet Road (leading to Viveknagar and MG Road at the center of Bangalore).
Divided into 8 Blocks, the 3rd and 7th Blocks are more commercial than the others, with all major banks and financial institutions including the Axis bank, ICICI bank, HDFC bank and State Bank of India having their branches here. Koramangala has a number of restaurants, coffee shops, juice and ice cream parlours and pubs, especially around 7th Block.
Koramangala is also home to some prestigious institutions like the St. John's Medical College, Jyoti Nivas College, Vemana Institute of Technology, Indian Institute of Astrophysics and others. Several software companies are located in Koramangala. To mention a few: Infosys, Wipro, NDS, Siemens VDO, Microland, Zenith Software, Rational Software Corporation (India) Pvt. Koramangala currently boasts one of the city's biggest shopping malls, The Forum, and Raheja Arcade, a big shopping-cum-offices complex. A large number of restaurants, relatively upscale houses and apartment complexes and a number of Indian and multi-national software companies distinguish Koramangala from other parts of the city. It hosts luxury apartment complexes like Prestige Acropolis, Raheja Residency and the National Games Housing Complex (built by draining the Koramangala tank) to name a few.
