Sanjaynagar is a residential area located in north Bangalore. Established in the late seventies, a sprawling locality now, Sanjaynagar comprises many colonies, established by the employees associations of N.G.E.F., H.A.L and C.I.L. Several offices of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) are located here. Sanjaynagar is well connected to technical institutions such as M. S. Ramiah Group of Institutions and Hospital, and the world renowned Indian Institute of Science.
Hebbal is an outlying area of Bangalore which once denoted (one can still see the milestone between the Baptist hospital and Checkpost) the north endpoint of the corporation limits of the city. Famous for the Hebbal Lake, one of the three lakes created in 1537 by Kempe Gowda, which has over the years been reduced to an inlet for sewage, storm water drains. Recent developments include a public-private-participation project through which the development of the lake is being undertaken by East India Hotels of the Oberoi chain of hotels, for 15 years and will include a children park, medical care centre, arch bridges, boating jetty and a curio gift centre.
Hebbal is now better known for the maze of flyovers that network the Outer Ring Road and Bellary Road. The flyover spanning a length of 6.25 kilometers over all the loops combined claims to be the longest flyover in India. The commencement of the Bengaluru International Airport (BIAL) at Devanahalli in 2008 has ensured that Hebbal has become a very important transit point for passengers flying out of Bangalore. All arterial roads and road networks leading to the BIAL intersect at Hebbal.
Hebbal hosts companies such as AstraZeneca, Integra Micro Software Services and MRO Tech. The neighbourhood of Hebbal Kempapura has been transformed into a sprawling modern commercial hub with the setting up of Embassy Kirslokar Business Park, Manyata Business Park and other commercial centers. The Esteem Plaza and the Columbia Asia Medical Center are notable landmarks.
