Frazer town located in the North-East direction of Bangalore and is shining example of the ethnic and cultural diversity of the city. Spread over an area of four square kilometers it was in the year 1910 Township of Frazer town was established, as indicated foundation stone found even today at the junction of Mosque Road and Coles Road. The town is named after the scholar Stuart Frazer, tutor to the Maharaja Krishnaraja Wadiyar IV. Although it has been officially renamed to Pulakeshinagar, when it comes to names old habits are hard to break.
Frazer town is a fine commercial and residential area. Prominent roads linking this place to city are Promenade Road, Coles Road, Mosque Road, Madhavaraya Mudaliar Road (M M Road), Robertson Road, Spencer Road, Tannery Road, and part of Wheeler Road.
The Bangalore East Railway station serves this part of the city.
Coles Park named after AH Coles, Resident of Mysore, comes under this town ship. The park has been renamed as Freedom Fighters Park. This park as an interesting historical past, during the British regime, on special events military bands played in the park and the Bangalore Rifle Volunteers played marching music. This park has a well maintained topiary. The specialty of the park is that it has an exclusive area for disabled children. Coles road is paradise for food lovers, as it has many restaurant and street food vendors.
Frazer town offers a rich study of the architecture and town planning efforts of the British. The colonial bungalows of Gothic style and British architecture, stone buildings of Hajee Sir Ismail Sait Government Urdu Model Primary Boys and Girls School, St. Germain High School, Good Will Girls High School are all indicative of a bygone era.
