Shivajinagar (Shivajinagara), named after the freedom fighter Chattrapati Shivaji, is a popular locality in central Bangalore. Its proximity to M. G. Road and the Bangalore Cantonment Railway Station makes it an important transport hub. Adding to this is the presence of the nodal BMTC bus terminus, one of the key terminals in the city providing bus services to all part. Shivajinagar is a major commercial centre for the city of Bangalore.

Shivajinagar is home to many ancient Masjids which are 300 years old and date back to the Mughal era, like the Lal Masjid, Masjid-e-Baid, Masjid-e-Labbeen and the Tomb of Saint Hazrat Shah Sultan which is just behind the bus terminus. The Masjid constructed in its premises is the center of Tabligh activities all over the state.

Russell Market in Shivajinagar, named after T.B. Russell, who was the President of Cantonment Municipality between 1924 and 1928, was started in 1927 to cater the British residents in Cantonment area. It continues to serve the residents of this area to this day.

Shivajinagar has a lot of lanes and bye lanes which specialize in various categories of goods.

Commercial Street, one of Bangalore's prime shopping destinations for clothing and fashion accessories is also located here. Shivajinagar is famous for the non-vegetarian fare served by the various restaurants in the locality; especially popular are the sheekh kababs.

Opposite to the Shivajinagar Bus Terminus stands one of Bangalore’s oldest and famous churches, the St. Mary's Basilica. The annual feast of St. Mary's Basilica is celebrated every year in the month of September. The feast is celebrated for 9 days, ending on September 8th, with a chariot procession of St. Mary's statue around Shivajinagar. Thousands of Christians visit Shivajinagar during these nine days wearing saffron colored attires.
